THE ORCHARD / IN DEVELOPMENT
Handle: Intended Door County cherrywood scales, pending material testing and sourcing.
Blade Construction: To be determined. Steel selection, heat treatment, and construction method are still in evaluation.
Scales: Open-pore grain and finish approach are in development and not yet finalized.
Note: Steel, construction, quantities, pricing, and timing for The Orchard are not finalized. This is an in‑development concept, not an available product.

Founding the Orchard
Door County Knife Co. began with an idea: a useful pocketknife shaped by the place we call home. Orchard wood is our starting point. We are exploring sourcing and manufacturing options before committing to a design.
We will share confirmed materials, prototypes, and production details as they become available. Our first release remains in development.
The Wood Is the Story

Door County Cherry
Cherrywood is the intended starting point for our handle concepts. We are evaluating how Door County orchard stock might be responsibly sourced, dried, and finished for long-term pocket carry.
Status: Concept in development. Steel, construction, quantities, pricing, and timing are not finalized.

Applewood
Applewood is a dense, fine-grained hardwood that may offer excellent wear characteristics. Its potential sourcing, drying schedule, and finishing approach are still being considered.
Status: Future material under consideration. No collection, quantities, or dates are confirmed.

Sugar Maple
Hard maple, beech, and yellow birch are regional hardwoods we are researching for potential future use. Their impact resistance, stability, and long-term performance in pocket carry remain to be evaluated.
Status: Possible future materials. No specific series, drops, or timelines are committed.

Peninsula Hardwoods
We are also looking at additional peninsula hardwoods as possibilities only. Any future use will depend on responsible sourcing, testing, and long-term performance evaluation that has not yet been completed.
Note: All woods shown here are illustrative wood imagery; sourcing, species, and suitability are still to be verified.
